Horse shaped cleaver from the former Soviet Union, made in the late 1800's, shows heavy use and the blade is broken

to a hard striking blow. The cleaver features a bakelite

handle, probably a replaced.

Horse shaped cleaver from 

Germany, made in the 1890's. The cleaver features a full tang and has manufacture

marks pounded into the blade, has a short handle with hole in the front part. Weighs 1 pound, 8.6 ounces. 13 inches long, 6 inches at the blade.

Horse shaped, large, heavy butcher's meat cleaver. The cleaver is fitted with a flowing

wooden handle. The horse has a brass eye. The hand-made stainless steel cleaver comes from France. Weighs 1 pound 10.85 ounces. 13 inches long,

6 inches at the blade.

Horse shaped cleaver from 

Hungary, made in the 1900's. The cleaver features a full tang and long walnut handle.

Weighs 12.8 ounces. 11.5 inches long, 5 inches

at the blade.

Horse shaped, heavy cleaver from England. Features a

string wrapped handle, very

primitive. Weighs 1 pound, 14 ounces. 11.5 inches long,

5 inches at the blade.

Horse shaped cleaver from

the former Soviet Union, made in the 1900's is very

rare. The cleaver features a half tang and has a rustic wooden handle that is 10 inches long itself. Weighs 1 pound, 2 ounces. 16 inches long, 6.5 inches at the blade.

Horse shaped cleaver from

the Ukraine. Features a bakelite handle, portraying a split tail,

brass pins over a full tang and

strongly reinforced. Has nice

detail work on the horse's

mane. Weighs 1 pound, 4.8

ounces. 11 inches long,

7 inches at blade.

Horse shaped cleaver blank

Made in Slovenia, has a very

heavy construction recently

forged. The cleaver features a

full tang. Weighs 2 pounds, 6.

inches at the blade. New handle by knifesmith Kevin Greenlee of Gig Harbor, Washington.

pommel, and is secured by

Horse shaped Art Deco

cleaver from the 1970's made

in the USSR. The handle of thecleaver has a full tang and is

encased on both sides with

layers of  light and dark

colored plastic, secured by

steel pins. Weighs 1 pound,

4.4 ounces. 12 inches long,

Horse shaped cleaver from Czechoslovakia, made in the

1930's is very small for many cleavers with this many details. The cleaver features a full

tang and has a rustic wooden handle held together with

copper pins and diamond

accents. Weighs 1 pound, 0.2

ounces. 10.5 inches long, 4.5

inches at the blade.

Vintage horse shaped cleaver is one of the nicer cleavers I have seen of this kind. Made

in Germany in the 1920's. The

handle of the cleaver has huge

brass accents with flat head brass screws holding it

together. The metal is not

pitted and pristine. Weighs 1 pound, 6.1ounces. 11 inches

long, 6 inches at the blade.

Vintage from the 1970’s era horse meat cleaver is from

the USSR, the former Soviet Union. A vintage cleaver is handmade. These were not sold in stores. Inside of the handle are plastic, and the metal parts are made of steel. Weighs 1 pound, 9.5 ounces. 11.75 inches long, 4 inches at the blade.

This horse is the "White Unicorn" of all Zoomorphic Cleavers. I saw this for sale several times at auctions, then it disappeared for over a year, then re-surfaced on an antique website, and after pursuing

this for several years I finally acquired this one of a kind, never seen before cleaver/knife combination from an artisan in England. The 100 plus, year

old cleaver is a one of a kind product of the unique imagination of the craftsman. This is the only one like it I have ever seen in my years of collecting Zoomorphic cleavers. This was made by an artisan blacksmith in England in the Cornwall region.
